Proof of Murder
Last week I received advanced proof copies of the UK and US editions for my upcoming ‘choose-your-own-story’ crime novel Can You Solve the Murder?
Here’s the UK edition, to be published on June 5:
And here’s the US edition, due out on July 1:
Transworld even made a very cool cover reveal video:
All very exciting! You can pre-order Can You Solve the Murder? now from all good bookstores and outlets.
Can You Hold a Tea Party?
In more exciting news, Can You Solve the Murder? won’t just be released in the UK and USA. There are also many overseas and foreign-language editions in the works, and earlier this week my wonderful agent Sarah Such organised a tea party for many of the editors and publishers responsible for those editions on the eve of London Book Fair.
It was held in the ‘spying room’ of the Morpeth Arms in London – so-called because many years ago it was a regular haunt of real MI6 officers! – which now also affords a view of the ‘Legoland’ MI6 building in Vauxhall.
It’s not often an author gets to meet their foreign-language publishers, so this was a real treat. A good time, and many cupcakes, were had by all.
Listen to the Dogs
A lot of you have been wondering when the audiobook release of The Dog Sitter Detective Plays Dead will be released. I know this because you’ve asked me – many, many times 😅
Normally we always try to release the audiobook day-and-date with the print and ebook editions. With this book that wasn’t possible, for reasons beyond anyone’s control or fault.
So I’m delighted to tell you that The Dog Sitter Detective Plays Dead audiobook will now be released on April 3. I’m equally delighted that It’ll be narrated, as always, by the amazing Nicolette McKenzie, who encapsulates Gwinny so perfectly.

Get A Clue at Leigh Library
I’m appearing at Leigh Library on Saturday March 29th as part of the week-long “All Write Up North” festival.
The Saturday events are all focused on crime fiction, and I’ll be giving my talk “Get A Clue: The Five Secrets of Great Crime Fiction” – normally I present this as a workshop for aspiring crime writers, but as this is a general event I’ve tweaked it a little so anyone can come along and learn the five fundamental principles of writing great crime and thriller fiction.
The event is FREE, but booking is required:
Vale CrimeFest
I’m also appearing at Bristol’s CrimeFest again this year, in May. However, this occasion will be bittersweet, as the CrimeFest organisers announced earlier this year that 2025’s festival will be the last. Let’s give them a good send-off, eh?
